WE DO NOT charge by the hour like many other Nashville studios. We work with the artist to reach a final product that you feel good about. We want you coming back!
Pre-production
One of the most important parts of recording that many other studios miss - we take a look at your song. It might be perfect as is; but it might sound better with a different bridge, or perhaps a guitar solo or key change. We work on the song with you - deciding on the right tempo, feel, key, arrangement and chord progressions. We make sure that both the artist and the studio are on the same page BEFORE recording a single note.
Tracking
We have a drum room with 20 ft ceilings and all hardwood for that giant drum sound. We will record live bass to the drums, then overdub acoustic and electric guitars. Programming sound effects, strings, loops, keys and other instruments with FL Studio is next. Finally, after finalizing the overall direction of the song with the artist, we bring them in to sing vocals.
Mixing
We mix all the tracks in Pro Tools 10 with plug-ins and drum replacement software. We use Melodyne to tune the artist's vocal track and build harmonies if needed. Mixing takes the most time with constant dialogue between the engineer and artist to ensure the client's satisfaction. During this time we also overdub more instruments if needed to complete the sound.
Mastering
The final step in recording that many studios do not offer is mastering. We use Izotope Ozone to take your final mix to that 'professional' level, adding overall dynamic EQ, multi-band compression, stereo imaging, and maximizing (setting the overall volume to -.1db, just like the radio), making your song ready for iTunes, CDBaby, or replication.
